AI6% Program

Incentive donation program aimed at institutions that work with people in situations of risk or social vulnerability.

Here at Cemig, we are always looking forward to supporting projects that offer some social benefit. That’s why we created the AI6% ProgramTraining Citizens, which helps us in our mission to assist institutions that work with children and teenagers in situations of personal or social risk.

The main purpose of AI6% is to encourage our employees to allocate up to 6% of their income tax to the Childhood and Adolescence Funds (FIAs), aiming at strengthening the social entities that develop programs and/or special projects to serve this public.

Established since 2000, the AI6% is a partnership between Cemig Inter-Managerial Association (AIC) and the Business Volunteering Program. In addition to contributing to charitable institutions, the program supports the actions of Cemig’s volunteer employees, who help these institutions by conducting collection campaigns for the entities they have registered and “sponsored”.

Resources are allocated to institutions that work with:

  • Actions to protect and defend children and teenagers’ rights in situations of risk or vulnerability;
  • Protective actions against violence;
  • Programs to combat child labor;
  • Support for people with disabilities;
  • Chemical Dependency / Admission Programs;
  • Professional training programs for teenagers;
  • Culture, sports and leisure;
  • Guidance initiatives, family support and implementation of socio-educational measures.

With so many years of implementation, the program has already been presented to several companies, city halls, class entities, universities, seminars, in several states throughout Brazil.

The campaign and the allocation to municipal funds are carried out at the end of each year and the transfer of funds to institutions takes place the following year, in compliance with the rules established by the Council for Children and Adolescents (CMDCA).

SOCIAL IMPACT

A survey was conducted to assess the impact of the AI6% Program on society. The study was carried out with 10 institutions that received funds from part of the income tax due from employees and the company, of which five were the entities that received the most funds and five others from the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte.

According to the survey, the social return for the ten projects assessed was R$ 3.58. That is, each R$ 1.00 allocated had an impact of R$ 3.58 on society. The resources are used for equipment purchases, educational material, development of activities with beneficiaries, and even infrastructure improvement.

 REGISTRATIONS

Institutions able to raise funds through the Childhood and Adolescence Fund (FIA), duly registered with the Municipal Council for Children and Adolescents (CMDCA) that wish to participate in the AI6% Program, must be indicated and registered by a Cemig employee who is willing to act voluntarily as a sponsor and be the main communication channel between the Program Management and the institution.

Furthermore, the institution also needs to submit a certificate regarding the accountability of legal instruments already signed with the municipality and authorization to raise financial resources through the FIA.

If all documents are in order, the institution will receive the registration form. To make the participation effective, it is necessary that the CMDCA in which the institution is registered agrees to sign the Term of Partnership with Cemig.
